Smoke and SilhouettesRiver stood behind his store, Flower Pot, smoking pot. He chuckled to himself, the brilliant store title never losing its effect over him. River stood away from the street lamp for fear of a police office catching him getting stoned in a spotlight. He tried not to smoke inside too often because he didn't want the smell to linger. He didn't realize that his dreadlocks permanently stank of pot.Smoke and Silhouettes by *xisney
So River stood outside smoking, the only sign of his presence was a small red flame on the tip of his joint. He breathed in, blinked, and watched the shadows. He knew it was natural for the shadows to flicker and sway, they always did when he did this.

Life and DeathThe sun glared at Charlotte's bed through the window, heating up her baby pink comforter. Charlotte's eyes fluttered open, her bluish green eyes peeked out from between her thick faint orange eyelashes. She stepped out of bed, stretching. Charlotte glanced at her clock, it read 10:43, and the sun made her assume it was morning.Life and Death by *xisney
She felt discomfort settle into her stomach. Charlotte stood stiffly. "It's a school day," she said to herself with lingering disbelief.
Charlotte dressed, her mind quickly whirling through her routine and what had changed in it. Her mom woke her up around seven to give her time to change, eat, and catch the bus. She

Alien Series: Savage JawsTrace paced around the basement floor, his claws clicking along the concrete. Silvan sat steady, his blue eyes locked on the window. Trace continued his pace, glancing at Sil from time to time to check his companion's movements. Sil ignored him, making it clear he wanted to wait until the time was right.Alien Series: Savage Jaws by *xisney
They fought them before, the invaders, and Sil and Trace ended up being the ones fleeing, with their tails metaphorically between their legs. Neither of them would have actually let their tail hide there, both knew they'd be victorious, but they had different strategies. Sil thought their victory just required waiting for the right time. Pros and CatsLoki sat with Holly in his lap, cradling her as she tried to catch a few minutes of sleep on the street. The cats curled up around the pair, sleeping coiled together. He kept a fierce frown on his face, daring anyone to mock him or threaten Holly.Pros and Cats by *xisney
It was hard to be taken seriously as a man when a quilt of cats draped themselves across you, but Loki did his best. Holly's warmth spread through his bare chest. He tried not to let the smile twitching into the corner of his lips stay as he scanned the street through the alley. Holly cursed in her sleep, curling up closer to him.
The cats, too, began to move as one entity, repositioning themselve

The Taste of SparksChauvin climbed down into the sewer, hesitating on the ladder to replace the cover overtop of it. He heard the loud splash as he dropped down into the slick water. He clambered up onto the small shelves on either side of the sewer water, and he ran a hand through his hair to keep it out of his eye. He felt the water keep his eye patch slick to his face. The Taste of Sparks by *xisney
He lit a cigarette and rubbed the scruff on his face. He took a deep breath in, and as the smoke curled from his nostrils, he ran through the sewers. He smiled to himself, listening to the faint noises of him sneaking with the whirl of technology all around him.
But a new noise made Chauvin

Little MomentsThe sun awoke Pepin. He squeezed her eyes shut, trying to pull the sheets tighter around him. A weight on the end of the bed kept the sheets from moving far, and he raised his head to see Eli sleeping at their feet, keeping the sheets bundling up around him. Angie turned over, nuzzling into Pepin's back.Little Moments by *xisney
Pepin grumbled, his blue eyes shifting over to see Angie burrowing into his back. "It's time to get up," she purred.
Eli, on cue, got up and stretched on the bed. Pepin turned over, wrapping his legs around Angie's warm ones, coiling his arms around her waist. Eli wandered over as Pepin murmured, "Stay a few moments with me."

Yellow LotusThe petite, pink squirrel sat high up on a tree branch, inspecting between her clawed toes while her mind whirled with thoughts. A warm wind rustled the tree’s leaves, and she could smell the rich pond on the breeze. A rainstorm caused her normal loitering spot to flood, so she stayed high up in her tree for safety until the water levels dropped as they tended to do. But the smells were interesting and the outside air and plants were warm and moist, so she had little complaint.Yellow Lotus by *xisney
Her green eyes widened as she caught a flash of yellow on the wind below her. She scurried down the tree to investigate, her tail coiling around the trunk as sh
| I use DeviantArt to display my commissions. I get a lot of questions and comments about the characters being undeveloped, so I thought I'd post information about commissions here. Why are there only pieces of stories everywhere? I do not take novel-length commissions, I only accept short stories. So the stories are often snippets from the creator's larger tale. Why don't you spend a lot of time describing and explaining the characters? I don't think commissioners want to re-read their characters' backstories with every order, so I assume my target audience (i.e. the commissioner) already knows the characters backstories. Why don't you post links so we can read more about the creator's characters It's easier just to assume that everyone wants privacy when it comes to their characters. Some of the pairings are jointly owned, and some of the art is drawn by other people, so I find it's better to simply leave out the extra information so that the creators and other artists the creators have hired are not offended by what they've received. Why are you posting them on DA where anyone can read them if they're only for a specific audience? For one thing, most of the people that order from me are on DA, so they can +fav the commissions to easily find them again. It also allows them to share the commissions easily with other people by simply posting the link rather than having to e-mail a word document or something similar. I've tried several different ways of posting commissions, and DA really seems the best option for everyone. |
